Description
At the heart of the Lowfat Roubo philosophy is a love and appreciation for good honest simple design. The ancient Chinese believed the sky to be round and the earth to be square and our chopsticks are made respecting that tradition. They taper evenly on all four sides from a perfect square of around 7mm at one end to a delicate octagon of around 3mm at the other. The octagonal shape has a distinct practical advantage over the more common and mass produced round tipped chopsticks. The eight corner points add grip and make it easier to pick up some of the more slippery items in your bowl. Our chopsticks also incorporate one of the most important aspects of a traditional chopstick –  the diamond finial on the top. As well as being a beautiful detail it’s also a symbol of good luck and prosperity. The timber we use to make them is pretty special too; English ash, English cherry, 6000 year old bog oak and padauk. Producing them allows us to use up every precious scrap of timber that passes through our workshop.
