The first of a new batch of marking gauges, both Pin/Pencil and Cutting are leaving the workshop today. The last remaining stock has been added to the shop inventory and there are some real beauties among them. Take for example the first pair of matched gauges I’ve ever made; one Pin/Pencil and one Cutting gauge made from some exquisite English walnut. Both the beams and stocks are made from the same stock blanks with just a saw cut separating them. There are more details and images here.
As things stand at the moment there is just one bog oak faced Pin/Pencil gauge left in stock. These wont come around again for a while so jump on it now if you like the look of it.
Also on the short list of last remaining examples is a plain Castello box Cutting gauge. These gauges come with spear point and knife edge blades harvested from a single 1/4″ Hock marking knife.
